   91��Ƭ offers individuals the opportunity to learn more about plants and the careers available in related fields through its Horticulture diploma and associate degree program and now the Career Services department is helping them become even more career ready.

   The 91��Ƭ Horticulture students are preparing for a wide variety of positions related to landscape design, installation, and management.  They also qualify for commercial plant production in greenhouses, nurseries and garden centers.  Entry-level workers earn around $14.42 per hour.  A degree in horticulture can lead to many different careers.  A nursery worker is responsible for caring for plants in a nursery, including watering, wrapping samplings, and following planting and care schedules. Indeed.com reports a national average salary of $53,100 per year for horticulturists. 

   91��Ƭ Career Services Director Cynthia Carter conducted a Resume Writing workshop for students enrolled in 91��Ƭ’s Horticulture Instructor Brandon Gross’ program recently.  Carter discussed the do’s and don’ts of developing a resume, documenting work history, showcasing their education and hands-on projects, and work experiences. 

   “It’s important to understand job search, how to market yourself, and the employment process,” explained Carter, who also encouraged the students to schedule a mock interview, before job search and real interviews begins. 

   “91��Ƭ’s Career Services stands ready to assist skilled job seekers with business & industry networking, internships, full time and part-time employment,” added Carter.  She also shared a QR Code with students to register with Focus2, a career platform.
